Matt Griffin

Matt Griffin is a writer, producer, podcaster, adjunct professor, conference producer, consultant, and 3D printing / biofabrication expert. He teaches in the NYU IDM and ITP programs. He produces NarraScope 2025 and the Construct3D Educator Conference.

He is obsessed with the many modes of interactive fiction as means to shatter a writer's understanding of what is happening in the mind of a reader, opening up to more ways to play together. He has been interviewing interactive fiction authors about how they make their work for a forthcoming interview academic book, and covers interactive fiction and narrative games for ChoiceBeat Zine and other journals. He is currently writing an interactive novel in ChoiceScript for Choice of Games to explore the mysterious ways horror as a genre asks new and better questions why the hell we tell stories to each other. He has an MFA in Writing (Fiction) from Columbia University.

His current research areas are biofabrication, 3D bioprinting, biomaterials, 3D printing, interactive fiction, narrative games, the future of podcasting, role of AI in education and academic and creative research, interactive design, design for interactive, design for design, interactive for interactive, molecular gastronomy, bioplastics, and community development components related to all of these research areas and to bridging between populations that don't typically work together.

Some of his previous roles include: community manager at MakerBot, director of community & support at Adafruit, Director of Community & Community Strategist at Ultimaker (then it became UltiMaker by merging with MakerBot and time looped back on itself), Conference Program Director for 3D Systems' Regenerative Medicine program, and podcast host of Talking Additive. He has been working for over fifteen years rollercoaster years in various flavors of additive manufacturing, and before that spent a thrilling decade working in film and video.
